Many CVWMA member jurisdictions are offering free Christmas tree recycling.
A list is available at cvwma.com. Programs are open only to residents of the sponsoring locality.
All trees must be free of ornaments, lights, tinsel and hardware prior to drop off. See special instructions for each facility. Most will recycle the trees into mulch.
Real Christmas trees can also be composted or placed outside as wildlife habitat.
City of Richmond residents should mark their calendars for Bring One for the Chipper on Jan. 14, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at 1710 Robin Hood Road. Real tree recycling, document shredding, household hazardous waste collections, and electronics recycling will be offered for city residents only. Fees apply for some electronics recycling.
