Ashland Fourth of July Celebration

Annual Fourth of July parade is back for another festive celebration. The parade of local talent and organizations will kickoff at 11 a.m. from Henry Clay Elementary School and wind through the railroad town ending at Hanover Arts. Following the parade, the Hanover Concert Band will play a patriotic concert with a presentation of colors by the James M Slay Detachment #329 MCL Color Guard. Local Boy Scouts will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks; Clay Springs Ruritan will be on hand with snow cones; and Hanover Arts will be selling popcorn, apple pie slices, and bottled water.

The famous apple pie baking contest will be a cornerstone of the days events. Other community awards include most patriotic and prizes for kids and pets. Dress yourself, family and pets up in red, white and blue for judging from 11 a.m.-noon at the pet comfort station on the Hanover Arts lawn. Any and all pets are welcome — bring your favorite chicken! Classic lawn games including potato sack races, egg toss, watermelon seed spitting, a water balloon toss and more will round out the day’s events.
