AHA’s National Walking Day Event at Redskins Training Center
Encourages community to get up and move!
WHAT: The American Heart Association along with local sponsors HDL, Inc. and Bon Secours Richmond Health System, invite area companies, organizations and families to the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center to walk around the facility and visit various stations to learn more about the benefits of being physically active all year round.

HIGHLIGHTS: Event highlights to include:
• Heart man, movin’ mania characters and kids’ zone activities
• Meet nutrition and exercise experts for tips and demos
• Blood pressure screenings
• Hands-Only CPR demos sponsored by Anthem
• Goodie bags to first 500 attendees
WHY: As a nation, we’re becoming more inactive. This is a problem when you consider that physical inactivity doubles the risk of heart disease! Adult (and childhood) obesity/overweight levels continue to increase: 68% of all Adults are obese or overweight. Obesity costs American companies $225.8B per year in health-related productivity losses. However, we can all make changes and here’s the good news: getting up and walking and moving, even for as little as 30 minutes a day, will improve heart health, circulation, lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and promote weight loss.
