FREE, Military Kid Art Camp Petersburg, Virginia Camp Dates- July 7-11, 2014 With the amount of snow we all experienced this winter it is hard to imagine a warm summer. If you have children in the house, you know, now is the time to start planning for summer and summer camps before the choice programs are filled. The Military Kid Art Camp is a rare offer. Art camps are offered less to the community than your average canoe paddling, tie-dye camp. Free camps are even more rare. This opportunity is going to go fast! The second annual Military Kid Art Camp is being held in the Petersburg, Virginia area. This is a free summer day camp for military children ages 9 – 12, who are serious art enthusiasts. The camp includes all art supplies, visiting artist, art projects, art exercises, art games, computer art time, an art opening, 2 snacks and lunch. The camp is Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.
Registration begins March 15th, 2014. There are 40 openings, it is first come first serve with priority going but not limited to, kids who’s parents are currently deployed. This camp is open to military connected youth regardless of Branch of Service who have a parent/loved one in any phase of the deployment cycle; priority given to children/youth from geographically dispersed families. Great opportunities for our military children and youth!! The 2014 Department of Defense (DoD) Deployment Support Camp Grants are funded through a partnership of the Department of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Military Community & Family Policy, Office of Family Policy/Children and Youth and U.S. Department of Agriculture/National Institute of Food and Agriculture under Kansas State University special project number 2010-48713-21882.
