“El Beso de la Abeja”, Dance theatre work in collaboration with Spanish composer, Adolfo AdVero, artistic director, Ana Ines King, and international choreographers, renown flamenco artists, Domingo Ortega and Francisco Mesa “El Nano” from Spain. Additional collaboration with CatherineMarie Davalos, Director of Dance at Saint Mary’s College of CA in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This work is choreographed to original music composed through the real sound of nature, combining nature, bees and human interaction. The choreography combines Contemporary dance, authentic flamenco form, ritual dances from the Amazon and the Caribbean regions dance techniques, accompanied by literature and Photo/video elements.
El Beso de la Abeja helps us to understand the global desperately importance of protecting nature. More than three million colonies in America and billions of bees worldwide have died since 2006. Bees are a critical part of the food chain. Flowering plants depend on insects for pollination and the honeybee is the most effective. Bees contribute to global food security and their extinction would represent a terrible biological disaster. If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. If the bees disappeared, to provide food to more than 7 billion humans on Earth would be impossible.
Musicians, choreographers, dancers, writers, videographers, photographers, technicians, ecologists and apiculture individuals from different countries are collaborating in this Project, with the specific guidance of protecting the bees and preserve Nature.
