Richmond Raceway hosted Bindy Gralow, a 102-year-old race fan, along with her family and caretaker, to fulfill her wish of riding around America’s Premier Short Track in a pace car.
Bindy was raised and educated in Edinburgh, Scotland. She initially moved to Canada, then to the United States, and now lives with her daughter in the Lakeside area of Henrico County. She worked as a travel agent well into her sixties and later became a docent at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
Taking a ride around a NASCAR track has been on Bindy’s bucket list, and she was very excited to make laps on the 0.75-mile, D-shaped oval. To build anticipation for today, Richmond Raceway sent Bindy a surprise care package of gifts over the holidays.
“Fans like Bindy are what make Richmond Raceway such a special place for our community,” said Lori Colier Waran, president of Richmond Raceway. “We’re extremely humbled to help make her wishes come true as she fulfilled her need for speed!”
