St. Catherine’s Early Childhood Education Program is developmentally appropriate, challenging and uniquely designed for young girls. The Early Learners Program is for girls who are 3 years old, and the Junior Kindergarten Program is for girls who are 4 years old.
“Research has shown us that children develop who they are going to be at a very young age,” said Dr. Annie Kapetanis, St. Catherine’s director of lower school. “In addition, the greatest growth in learning happens before children enter second grade.
“These are the primary reasons for the importance of making sure that the foundational years are strong ones. These are the years that shape a child for her future.”
Expert teachers at St. Catherine’s guide the girls through literacy development, number sense, social and gross motor skill development, creative movement and exploration in the outdoor classroom. The facilities are top-notch with bright, airy, open spaces designed for how girls learn best. The Early Childhood Program follows the same school calendar for holidays and closings as kindergarten through twelfth grade.
The Early Childhood Program at St. Catherine’s has the flexibility to meet the needs of each child and each class, customizing the teaching and learning with hands-on projects that incorporate the interests and curiosities of the girls.
