Shamrocks, Basketball Brackets, and More!

Thoughts of warm spring days and adventure!

Here at RFM, we’re feeling very fortunate indeed. After all, we have the best readers on the planet! You know, if it weren’t for you, there would be no RFM. You are the ones who support our advertisers, the businesses and events sprinkled throughout our pages each month. You are the ones who are keeping a new-to town doctor busy after you saw her in our recent issues and chose to book appointments with her, mentioning her ad each time (thank you!). It is you who have already contacted our newest contributor in the Pet Stop for help with your furry friends. And you are the ones who will keep family-focused events coming to our city because YOU are the ones who blew away the folks at LEGO® KidsFest with your enthusiasm for their Richmond tour stop. More than 2,400 of you used our RFM discount code when you purchased your tickets, and you can be sure that after selling out the Greater Richmond Convention Center nearly two weeks before the KidsFest arrived in town, LEGO will return to Richmond, Virginia! You also helped make the Chihuly exhibit at VMFA a record-breaker. You brought out the whole family to see those amazing glass creations, you posted your pictures from the exhibit on Facebook and Twitter, and in turn, you helped bring more and more visitors – 160,000 of them in total – to the museum over the last several months. You matter, make no mistake, and for this, you are our four-leaf clovers!

We’re predicting you’ll show up in droves for a very adventurous afternoon this month too. Our Summer Adventure Expo is right around the corner, and you don’t want to miss it! For starters, it’s at one of the coolest spots in Richmond, Peak Experiences Indoor Climbing Center. If you’ve never been, you’ll be amazed! If you have, you’re surely a fan and can’t wait to get back on those rock walls. We’ll give the kids a chance to get a free climb, so don’t forget your cameras. There will be over forty exhibitors on-hand to show you what they have to offer your little and big kids to keep their minds and bodies in top form during the summer months. Everything from engineering to art, from music to math, basketball, tennis, soccer – you name it, it will be there. We’ll also have yummy food, live entertainment from magician Mickey Moore and a concert by The Diggity Dudes! Their original tunes are perfect for elementary-aged kids and grown-ups too. You’ll find yourself singing right along!

We’ll see you there – rain or shine – Sunday, March 24, from one to four at Peak Experiences, 11421 Polo Circle, right off of Huguenot and Robious Roads. And yes, we’ll have lots of prizes too, so bring your kids and your lucky shamrocks with you!

For now, enjoy another information-packed issue of RFM. Once again, you’ll find topics for families at every stage of the game!

Margaret Thompson never thought she’d be a business owner (or a mom for that matter!), but after realizing a need for a high quality, content-focused magazine for Richmond area families, she dove in! With twenty years of marketing and project management under her belt, she pulls all of the pieces together each month to get RFM out to our eager readers. Mom of two teen boys, Margaret and her husband Chris live in Hanover County.
