Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest will open to the public daily beginning Friday, March 15. Come and explore the house and grounds that Thomas Jefferson’s built as his personal retreat. Each year, visitors come to Poplar Forest to see the newest archaeological discoveries and latest restored architectural features, and to experience the enduring legacy of Thomas Jefferson
WHEN: Beginning Friday, March 15, Poplar Forest will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December 30. Closed Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
WHERE: Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest is located at 1542 Bateman Bridge Road, Forest, VA 24551-0419.
WHAT: Tour the house to learn about architecture, preservation and life in the early 19th century. See ongoing excavation and view artifacts from the enslaved community that lived and worked at Poplar Forest. Discover Jefferson’s vision for his gardens, ornamental plantings and farm at as it emerges through archaeology. Enjoy special events each year, including musical performances, historical theater, and lectures.
A visit to Poplar Forest will deepen your understanding of Thomas Jefferson. It is at this getaway that he focused on his personal pursuit of happiness— and created a distinctly personal place.
Tours will be available to the public seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations are not required.

Adults are $14.00; Seniors, ages 60+, are $12.00; Active Military are $12.00; College Students are $7.00; Youth 12-18 are $6.00; Youth 6-11 are $2.00 and under age 6 are free.

Poplar Forest is a National Historic Landmark recently added to the United States nominations to become a World Heritage Site.
