Discover What Christmas Is All About at Gaylord National Resort

Good grief! July marks the halfway point to Christmas and the holiday season including jungle bells, decked halls, and Santa Claus. It also marks the tenth year Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center is unveiling its new theme for the Capital Region’s award-winning ICE! attraction, presented by DEI, which has attracted nearly 1.5 million visitors to date.

The Washington, D.C. area’s premier waterfront resort will once again transform into an unrivaled winter wonderland, known as Christmas on the Potomac, presented by Pepsi, from November 16, 2018 through January 1, 2019. Visitors young and old will continue to be enchanted by the hotel’s Christmas Village (complete with Santa, Mrs. Claus, ice skating, gingerbread decorating and more!); a jaw dropping 55-foot suspended Christmas tree; 2 million twinkling holiday lights; and a magical indoor snowfall in its stunning 19-story glass atrium. It also will include the holiday show stopper ICE! – a chilly, nine-degree walk-through event that brings Christmas alive via colorful carved ice sculptures.

This year’s ICE! theme will showcase the true meaning of Christmas with its rendition of the ever-popular Peanuts holiday story, A Charlie Brown Christmas by Charles Schulz. Beloved characters including Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and friends will come to life in more than 2 million pounds of colorful, larger-than-life ice sculptures hand-carved by 35 artisans from Harbin, China – made famous for its International Snow and Ice Festival. The attraction also includes multi-story ice slides and culminates with a breathtaking, crystal clear ice sculpture Nativity scene that echoes Linus’ famous soliloquy from the holiday classic.

If ICE! isn’t enough time with the Peanuts gang, visitors also can enjoy an interactive character experience, Breakfast with Charlie Brown and Friends, at the resort’s atrium restaurant, Pienza Marketplace.

The resort also is bringing back its Build-A-Bear Workshop® experience where guests make their very own furry winter friend – a cuddly, cute polar bear plush, designed exclusively for Gaylord Hotels that can be personalized with cozy winter clothing and accessories.

The best way to ensure visitors get a full holiday experience with the greatest value is through the resort’s overnight packages. Packages include everything from a $100 resort credit, souvenir ICE! photos and unlimited, priority entry tickets to ICE! featuring A Charlie Brown Christmas. Rates for the packages start between $219 and $279 for two people.

Tickets and holiday packages are available now at ChristmasOnThePotomac.com or by calling 301-965-4000. For more information, visit GaylordNational.com.
