Senior Wednesdays at Virginia Zoo

NORFOLK, Va. – To celebrate seniors and the contributions they make in our communities, the Virginia Zoo is proud to offer free admission every Wednesday in August and September to seniors age 62 and older.

“Seniors have given so much,” said Greg Bockheim, the Zoo’s executive director. “This is our way to give them something interesting and fun in return.”

To receive free admission, seniors need only to bring a valid ID as proof of age. Free admission applies only to individuals age 62 and over. Other visitors will be charged regular Zoo admission; $11 for adults, $9 for children 2 to 11. Children under 2 receive free admission every day.

Free senior admission will be valid on Wednesdays only from Aug. 7 through Sept. 25, 2013. Visit www.virginiazoo.org or call (757) 441-2374 for more information.

As an accredited Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) facility, the Virginia Zoo exhibits more than 400 animals on 53 beautifully landscaped acres. For more than a century, the Virginia Zoo has demonstrated a commitment to education and conservation, and offered a fun-filled day for visitors of any age. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and located at 3500 Granby Street in Norfolk. Daily admission prices are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors (age 62 and over) and $9 for children ages 2-11.
