Flat Stanley and Virginia Rep to the Rescue for Creative Kids

Virginia Repertory Theatre invites families with children ages eight and up to join us for an early summer course featuring The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Jr.

Musical director Anthony Smith and director Irene Kuykendal.

This performance course runs May 12 through June 13 and is designed with the musical theatre lover in mind. Students will be offered synchronous (real-time) online rehearsals, led by Irene Kuykendall (director) and Anthony Smith (music director). Performers will rotate through scene work, singing, and choreography and will engage with guided instruction in preparation for a virtual showcase to be shared with friends and family.

The show is based on Jeff Brown’s celebrated children’s book who comes to life in this adventurous, toe-tapping new musical. Ten-year-old Stanley Lambchop finds himself in a tight spot after a bulletin board unexpectedly falls and flattens him into a human pancake. With hopes of finding a solution to this challenging new way of life, Stanley is stamped and mailed from France to Hollywood and beyond.

Class times are Wednesdays (5:30 to 7:00 p.m.) and Sundays (12:00 to 2:00 p.m.). Tuition is $500 per student.

To register, please call (804) 282-2620.
