RVA Family Needs Help – Lost Everything in House Fire

A house fire late Friday and early Saturday morning all but destroyed the home of Katie and Earle Killius in the 1600 block of Helmsdale Drive off Gayton Road in the West End. The family was out of town, but neighbors reported seeing flames shooting higher than the trees. No one was injured.

The family has three children and needs help.

Currently moving from home to home with no final rental established for  several weeks, you can help the Killius family by purchasing something from Target  to stock the home they will rent until their home is rebuilt: Target : Expect More Pay Less

With elementary school starting Tuesday, the kids are in need of clothes.

“Life is crazy. They have to tear our house down to the studs and totally rebuild. We will not be back in our house for nine months to a year. Clothes and shoes for Grace would be great. She is wearing a 7 women’s shoe and 16 in kids or 3/4 in juniors. Charlie is in size 6 with a shoe size of 12 or 13. Owen is in size 2 or 3 and shoe size 9,” said mom Katie.

She said the kids are also in great need of books. “All of ours have to be destroyed. The boys love superhero books. Grace’s hard bound Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books are gone. We would love any other girl’s recommendations for books.” A friend of the family also said the boys love LEGOs. Several volunteers have been hand-washing LEGO bricks to restore the family’s collection to pre-fire condition.
