Crab Carnival October 4 and 5 in West Point

31st Annual West Point Crab Carnival
Friday evening, October 4th & all day Saturday, October 5th 2013, in downtown West Point the annual Crab Carnival and Street Fair; a celebration for all.

The West Point/Tri-Rivers Chamber of Commerce sponsors this fun-filled weekend each year, welcoming from 20,000 to 25,000 visitors celebrating the great Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab with lots of music, food and entertainment for the whole family. West Point is conveniently located just a short drive from Richmond or Hampton Roads. There is never an admission charge for the event.

The fun begins on Friday evening the 4th of October at 6 PM with a wide variety of food and beverage vendors in the Town Square. Then at 7 PM the Fireman’s Parade celebrates first responders. At 8 PM the band, “Crush,” will add a rocking beat to the festivities at the Town Square. The evening is capped off with a spectacular fireworks display over the Mattaponi River.

Saturday’s activities really get rolling about 10 AM with the streets filled with local, regional and national artists and craftsmen displaying and selling their creations. Food, beer and crab confections are plentiful up and down Main Street. This year we welcome the carnival rides and games of “Fun Times.” Beginning at 10 AM you can rock to the sound of “Monkey Fist” in the Town Square, while waiting for the Grand Marshalls and the Crab Carnival Parade at 1 PM. “Sweet Justice” performs at 3 PM and takes us through the rest of the day to the close at 6 PM. And what festival would be complete without an official t-shirt! This year there are many new selections to choose from.

This is a fund- (and fun) raising event sponsored each year by the West Point Tri-Rivers Chamber of Commerce for the benefit of local charities, civic organizations and churches.
