Webelos Geologist Pin Workshop (Course 27397)
This program is geared for Cub Scouts ages 9-10 looking to complete the requirements for their Geologist Activity Pin, with a focus on geology and rock formations. Scouts will conduct a scale hardness test on rocks and learn about geological formations. Scouts will learn about rock types, how coal is formed, the history of coal mining in Chesterfield County and its impact to the region. Participants will be able to view the Grove Shaft, one of the last remaining stone structures that was vital to the coal mining operations and understand what the life of a coal miner was all about.
