RVA On Ice Announces 2013 – 2014 Winter Season

Official Opening Ceremony Scheduled for Monday, November 25, 2013

Nighttime centeredRVA On Ice announces the 2013 – 2014 Winter Season which begins Saturday, November 23, 2013 and runs through Monday, January 20, 2014. An official opening ceremony with Mayor Dwight C. Jones and special guests is scheduled for Monday, November 25 at 5:00 pm immediately followed by a free skate session presented by the mayor. The rink will also be open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 from 4:00 – 10:00 pm.

This marks the 4th season of RVA On Ice which has become a downtown holiday tradition with residents and visitors alike. Participants enjoy skating under the sun, stars and the beautiful Richmond skyline. Classic holiday music plays and skaters can warm up at the fire pit while the concessions stand serves hot chocolate, S’mores and other snacks. Free arts and crafts sessions are offered by Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities’ Office of Cultural Arts Programs on Saturdays and other special events and appearances will occur throughout the season.

New to the experience this year will be dress-themed days including “Wear Your Tackiest Holiday Sweater” and “Disco Dance Party” among others. Christmas trees will also be available for purchase, while supplies last, with proceeds benefiting the March of Dimes. Regular hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 10:00 pm, Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday from 12:00 to 10:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 pm. The rink will be reserved for private rink rentals (groups, corporate events and private skating lessons) on Fridays from 8 – 10 pm and Sundays from 6 – 8 pm, as well as Saturdays & Sundays from 10 am – 12 pm. Groups of 10 or more costs $200 for two hours. The group rate does not include skate rental. For additional group information please contact Audrey Booth at ABooth@SMGRichmond.com.

• General Admission $ 5.00
• Senior (60 & up with ID) $ 4.00
• Military (with ID) $ 4.00
• Children 10 and under FREE (must be accompanied by guardian)
Skate Rental
• Adults $ 5.00
• Children 10 and under $ 3.00

Tickets for RVA On Ice are available at Richmond CenterStage Box Office. Cash and all major credit cards are
accepted. Call 804-592-3330 for more information. The Box Office is located at 600 East Grace Street,
Richmond, VA 23219. The rink is located between 6th and 7th Streets on East Broad Street, adjacent to
Richmond CenterStage and across from the Richmond Marriott and the Miller and Rhoads building. Street
parking is available as well as paid parking in 7th Street and Marshall Street Lot, 5th Street and Broad Street lot,
5th Street and Marshall Deck (Behind Marriott Hotel); fees vary.
