17th annual Fairy Tale Ball on October 18, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Charlotte’s Web will run through November 9, 2014. Based on the bestselling book by E.B. White, this adaptation by Joseph Robinette tells the classic story of a rambunctious pig named Wilbur and his unlikely friend and savior, Charlotte the spider. The show lasts about 75 minutes with a 10 minute intermission and is best enjoyed by children ages 5+.

Elton was recently seen in our Signature Season as Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof. Ellie Wilson, who was recently seen as Young Fiona in Shrek, The Musical and Madeline in Madeline’s Christmas returns as Fern Arable.

Coinciding with the production of Charlotte’s Web, Virginia Rep’s 17th annual Fairy Tale Ball will transform Willow Lawn and Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre into a barnyard paradise with trough’s filled with scrumptious food, children’s games, and activities for the whole family.

The Fairy Tale Ball is Richmond’s only formal gala for the whole family and raises over $100,000 annually to share nationally acclaimed programs with less advantaged families and schools and to support innovative health initiatives including Hugs and Kisses, Virginia’s principal child sexual abuse prevention program since 1983. The Fairy Tale Ball is unique for a fundraising gala in that it is geared for both adults and kids. This year for the first time, the event will be held at Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. Event Chair, Anne-Marie Anderson elaborates, “We are very excited that the Fairy Tale Ball has moved this year to Virginia Rep’s newly branded
Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. We are extremely thrilled about the new location, with its increased space and theatre design capability, and believe it will be a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a fun and dressy night out together.” Many guests consider the Fairy Tale Ball a family tradition and never miss a year. Alongside crafts and a live band, the gala will also feature a musical performance by favorite storybook and theatrical characters as well as both a silent and online auction for adults. The bidding is already open, and bidders can log on to www.biddingforgood.com/fairytaleball to bid for items offered through various outlets nationwide through October 19, 2014. Jennings Whiteway, Event Manager of Belles & Whistles and Virginia Rep’s Fairy Tale Ball, estimates that the event has raised over $1.2 million since 1998 to bring the arts to thousands of children and families from Virginia’s most challenged neighborhoods. Funds are generated through ticket sales, a silent auction, and corporate sponsorships. For more information on tickets call 804-282-2620 or visit
