Santa’s Christmas Miracle Opens November 28

Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre Celebrates the Holiday Season with Santa’s Christmas Miracle and Brunch with Snow Bear

John Hagadorn-SantaVirginia Repertory Theatre opens Santa’s Christmas Miracle on Friday, November 28 at Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive. The show will run through December 28, 2014. A holiday treat for young audiences, this production features book, music, and lyrics by Richard Geirsch. The show lasts about one hour and is best enjoyed by children ages 4+. Following several Saturday performances, patrons can join Santa and Snow Bear for a light brunch and sing along.

Santa’s Christmas Miracle is a charming, foot-stomping musical comedy perfect for the whole family. When the sheriff has outlawed Christmas, it is up to a mysterious stranger and a bungling bandit named Big Bad Bart to bring the true meaning of the season back into focus. Filled with a live country-western band, this delightful story directed by Ford Flannagan is sure to put you in the holiday spirit.

Sharing the role of The Stranger are John Hagadorn and Mac Damron. Hagadorn was recently seen as Santa in ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Damron was last seen at the Children’s Theatre in Young Tom Jefferson. Audrey Kate Taylor and Victoria Eriavez also return to the stage sharing the role of Amy Rose. Taylor was recently seen in ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, and both Taylor and Eriavez appeared in Madeline’s Christmas. Thomas Statton, a recent graduate of University of Maryland, is making his debut on the Children’s Theatre stage as Big Bad Bart, and Charley Raintree returns to Virginia Rep in the role of Sheriff Twisdale. Rounding out the company are Elisabeth Ashby, Rebekah Blackburn, Sophia Bunnell, and Christopher Chavez.

Snow Bear and Santa brunches will be sponsored by Travinia Italian Kitchen and will take place in the lobby following the 10:30 a.m. shows on November 29, December 6, and December 20 and following the 2:00 p.m. show on December 13. Families will enjoy a light brunch as well as singing, dancing, and an opportunity to meet Santa, Snow Bear, and several cast members from Santa’s Christmas Miracle.
