It’s Camp Time, RVA!

ExpoCrowdIt may still feel like winter around here (darned groundhog), but before we know it, the kids will be out of school and driving us cra–  … I mean, filling our every day with joy and love!

Let’s face it, that glorious break from the early mornings, homework, and lunch packing lasts nearly three months! Eventually, the pool will become ho-hum, and lying around the house will get old for all of you. You need a plan, and we’re here to help you make one. Mark your calendars right this second for Sunday, March 29. That’s the date of our fifth annual RFM Summer Adventure Expo, back at the ultimate RVA entertainment hot spot, Peak Experiences Indoor Climbing.

At this year’s Adventure Expo, you’ll find more than fifty summer camps on display with the 4-1-1 to help make this your kids’ best summer ever. In addition to having lots of information about their camps, they’ll have games and drawings for prizes, and we’ll have an afternoon full of fun. It’s a rain-or-shine event, so don’t let the unpredictable weather get in the way of your family fun.

Our favorite fellas, The Diggity Dudes, will kick off the event with a one o’clock concert and your favorite Diggity original tunes, such as Presidential Physical Fitness Test and Line Leader (put in your requests on our Facebook page!). The kids in your group get a free rock climb on Peak Experiences’ mighty walls, so be sure to bring your smart phone or camera to get some great video and pictures of their climbs.2-boothExpo

Look for not one but two of Richmond’s coolest food trucks, both of which should bring back some fond memories for many of you. Serafim’s Peace of Pizza will take those of you who are old enough right back to Brook Road to that Elvis-filled pizzeria we so adored, The Celebrity Room. And The Boardwalk Food Truck will bring back delicious memories of its namesake, the cute little spot packed with picnic tables near Libbie and Broad, destroyed by fire a few years ago. My mouth is watering at the thought, and I don’t know how I’ll choose what to eat!

Plus, Nutzy, Rodney the Ram, and other area mascots will be there for meet-and-greets and pictures, and we’ll have our legendary door prizes up for grabs, too.

So make your plans and tell all your friends. Join the RFM Summer Adventure Expo event on Facebook and share it that way too.
We’ll see you there!
