In honor of Valentine’s Day, we have packed this issue with things you’re sure to love. (Okay, that’s true in every issue, but I had to tie in this month’s mushy holiday somehow!)
But really, we have everything from family fitness stories to whale watching at Virginia Beach (Did you know we could do this?) to a fascinating look at dyslexia from a new-to-RFM writer I know you’ll enjoy. Add to the mix a Reaching Out that already has me sorting through my closet for dresses, and extra-easy Super Bowl dip recipes in What’s Cooking, and you have another delectable installment of RFM ready to be devoured.
After our super-popular Getaway Giveaway last month, we decided that another lucky family deserves to get out of dodge for a few days. This time, it’s a hidden snowflake you’ll be looking for. Not sure if it’s going to be as difficult to find as that starfish was, but when you find it, you can enter for your chance to win a fun-filled trip to Massanutten! This one includes a choice of four WaterPark passes or slope tickets.
Staying put this month? There’s always so much to see and do right here in the River City! My pick? The new exhibition at the Science Museum, RACE: Are We So Different? Check out smv.org for information on Family Cultural Saturdays, as well as lots of events, discussions, presentations, and workshops that go along with this groundbreaking exhibition, which runs through the end of April.
On the lighter side, the circus is always a winner and this year’s dragon theme looks cool. I’m also considering CYT’s Mulan with the boys. And if you haven’t already, you really should work in a trip to VMFA to see MUMMY. The 3D intro film by itself is worth the trip, plus who doesn’t enjoy a good sarcophagus?
Whatever you do, enjoy the month with the ones you love – and not to get too mushy, but we sure love all of you!
