Happy New Year from RFM!

Of course, what New Year’s greeting would be complete without a quick recap of the year that was? Everyone at Richmond Family Magazine agrees that 2011 rocked for one very important reason – okay, more like tens of thousands of reasons – readers like you!

Month after month, you picked up RFM at locations all over Richmond. We had a great time interacting with you in print as well as online, through our fabulous Facebook page and our active Twitter feed. One of the most enjoyable things about our jobs is having a chance to give away thousands of dollars in trips, tickets, and other opportunities for family-fun to our readers, especially during these challenging economic times. (We have four cool giveaways this month too!) Sharing information about ways to give back, as well as ways to receive help – through our non-profit sponsorships and our informative Reaching Out column – has been another great perk of the job. What amazing organizations we have here in RVA!

And now here we are, in a new year, filled with new opportunities, and a new look for RFM. You’ll find the same great content that spans the ages and connects with Richmonders no matter their interests. But a few tweaks here and there have resulted in an even better looking magazine (and I didn’t think that was possible!). See if you can find them, then email us and let us know what you think.

This issue includes a bonus – our new, quarterly RVA Health Focus is a 16-page section with medical updates, everyday health and lifestyle content, and my favorite this month, a story about a local doctor and his daughter who took their talents on the road to help kids in Haiti. We hope you enjoy this new bigger, better RFM and welcome your feedback and suggestions for future issues. Our proverbial door is always open and we’d love to hear from you!

Margaret Thompson never thought she’d be a business owner (or a mom for that matter!), but after realizing a need for a high quality, content-focused magazine for Richmond area families, she dove in! With twenty years of marketing and project management under her belt, she pulls all of the pieces together each month to get RFM out to our eager readers. Mom of two teen boys, Margaret and her husband Chris live in Hanover County.
