Dinosaur Discovery

Ettrick-Matoaca Library 4501 River Road, South Chesterfield, VA

Bring the wild world of dinosaurs to life. Students will learn about dinosaurs and step into the shoes of paleontologists as they “dig” for fossils and leave with their very own clay “fossil.” Ages 5 and up. Registration begins two weeks before each program.

Scotchtown Fiber Festival

Celebrate spring, the shearing of the sheep, and fiber production.  There are also open house tours, children’s activities area, demonstrations in the hearth kitchen, local crafters and vendors, food trucks, and more.

Bahia de Santa Maria: The Spanish Presence in Early Virginia, 1517-1616

Henricus Historical Park 251 Henricus Park Rd, Chester, VA

Demonstrations will include weapons, armor, clothing, and food of the Spanish soldiers, the objectives of Spanish officers when engaged with native people, English or French contenders, and the religious, political, and economic considerations of creating an outpost mission.

Digging Up Dinos

Ages 2 to 4, dig up some dinos at this special dino-themed story time. Sing songs and hear stories, then go on a fossil hunt. Registration beings April 15.

Learn about how seeds grow, Virginia native plants, and the importance of flowering plants. Using soil and seeds, make a seed bomb to plant some seeds in your yard. Registration begins two weeks before each program. Ages 5 and up.

Ages 4 to 5, meet at the  children's garden for an afternoon of exploration and imagination. Plant seedlings (while supplies last), play in the children's market and make beautiful sounds on the music wall.
