Advanced Orthopaedics and Ortho On-Call Present Sports Equipment to Greater Richmond Fit4Kids
Over a six-week period, the physicians from Advanced Orthopaedics and Ortho On-Call collected gently used sports gear from the public at drop-sites throughout Richmond. In an effort to provide increased recreation options and active living at home and school for area kids who do not have access to usable sports equipment, more than 500 pieces of sports gear and equipment were received.
The used sports equipment was presented by the physicians to Greater Richmond Fit4Kids, a local non-profit dedicated to improving the health and wellness of children by increasing physical activity and promoting healthy eating. Fit4Kids will distribute the equipment through their programs and community partners to help get local children up and active.
“Advanced Orthopaedics is excited to have yet another way to give back to the community with AdvanceItUp,” explains Dr. Kenneth Zaslav, president of Advanced Orthopaedics and a Sports Medicine Specialist. “Our goal is a more active and healthy youth in Richmond achieved by providing gently used sporting equipment to area children lacking the resources. This will help make group sports and organized physical activity a more regular occurrence in their lives.”
