Agecroft Hall & Gardens: Perfect Holiday Destination for Families

As leaves change and thoughts turn to pumpkins and snowflakes, the staff at Agecroft Hall & Gardens fills the calendar with events for adults and children alike to travel back in time by experiencing Tudor England. November and December include opportunities to dance with Queen Elizabeth I, explore the culinary delights of an English manor house, and dive into holiday crafts. Even King Henry VIII will grace Agecroft with tales of all those wives.

Kids will love the turf maze at Agecroft Hall and Gardens.

Don’t miss the chance to enjoy these free and low-cost events with your family. Now is the perfect time to visit Agecroft as the temperatures drop and the decorations go up. Drop the kids off on December 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a Holly-Jolly Craft evening with our education department and carve out some time for yourself (or some of that holiday shopping).

Falling leaves reveal beautiful views of the James River just in time for the annual Yuletides Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 11, from noon until 5:00 p.m. This annual free event is packed with crafts, cider, treats, and live entertainment including a visit from Father Christmas.

Make Agecroft part of your family’s holiday plans and discover traditions new and old!

Overlooking the James River, Agecroft Hall was moved from northern England in the early 1920s to the Windsor Farms neighborhood, just a mile from Carytown. The Tudor-era museum opened to the public after serving as a private residence and features self-guided tours of both the manor house and surrounding gardens. Children six and under are always free on these self-guided tours.

You can customize the experience to fit your family. Interested in a private tour? Those can be requested throughout the season. Need space for the little ones to roam enough to dream sugarplums? Garden admission includes full access to our lawns and paths for everyone to explore. Looking for the perfect setting for holiday photographs? Families can reserve a spot to enjoy an outdoor photography session. All these options are available by contacting our Tour Services Manager, Katie Reynolds, at kreynolds@agecrofthall.com
