Brown Family Reunion 2014

The Brown family from Richmond’s historic “Penitentiary Bottom” gathered on July 12 at Roslyn Conference and Retreat Center in Henrico County to kick off a fun-filled family reunion weekend. The reunion drew over 100 living descendants of John Anderson Brown, Sr., a Richmond postal worker born about 1884, and Mary Elizabeth Coleman Brown, a homemaker, born about 1888. Reunion attendees came from three states and represented four generations, ranging in age from 14 months to 80 years old. Family members donned T-shirts with the reunion theme, “It’s a Brown Thing…” which featured artwork designed by local artist, Jerome W. Jones, Jr., who is a member of the Brown Family and was featured with his son, Jeromyah, in a past issue of Richmond Family Magazine.
