Chesterfield Towne Center Barnes & Noble to Host Get Creative with NOOK® Event on Wednesday, August 14 at 7:00 PM

Free Event Part of “Get Reading” Campaign Showcasing Numerous Ways NOOK Makes Life More Interesting, Fun and Creative

NOOK Book™ Two-for-One Offers Every Weekend In Store Only

Richmond, VA – Tuesday, August 6, 2013 – Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, today announced that the Chesterfield Towne Center Barnes & Noble store in Richmond, VA will host a Get Creative with NOOK® event on Wednesday, August 14 at 7:00 PM. During this Get Creative with NOOK session, NOOK experts will help customers discover all the ways NOOK can jumpstart creativity so they can doodle, draw, paint, craft and more. Utilizing art apps, creativity-related NOOK Books and NOOK Newsstand™ selections and photo storage apps, customers will find inspiration, learn how to create on their device and find out how to share their ideas and designs with others through social media and websites such as Pinterest.

NOOK experts will also host a multi-challenge art-focused contest for artists and NOOK enthusiasts called the Artist’s NOOK Challenge. They will focus on classical and modern art, drawing skills, and lots of art knowledge. Prizes will be awarded, including a GRAND PRIZE. The free workshop is part of NOOK’s special program designed to help everyone “Get Reading” this summer with exclusive recommended reading lists from celebrated authors and TV personalities. Customers can visit www.nook.com/getreading to access exclusive recommended reading lists from authors including Judy Blume, Rick Riordan and James Patterson and popular celebrities like Mindy Kaling, Bob Harper, Martha Stewart, Giada De Laurentiis and Jim Gaffigan, all designed to inspire summer reading. NOOK Book titles featured in these exciting reading lists will also be included in the NOOK Book Two-for-One Weekends offer every weekend this summer in Barnes & Noble stores nationwide.
