Falling Creek Ironworks Park, site of the first iron furnace in the New World, will hold its annual Falling Creek Ironworks Day, Saturday, March 16, from noon to 4 p.m. A ground-breaking ceremony for planned improvements to the park will be held at noon.
Learn more about the 1619-22 ironworks with activities for the whole family, including period demonstrations, exhibits, costumed interpretations, Native American dancing, period music, musket demonstrations and children’s activities. Guides will lead tours of the archaeological ruins of both the 1619 ironworks and Archibald Cary’s Colonial grist mill.
Admission is free. Food and beverages sales will be provided by the Falling Creek Ironworks Foundation. This event is cosponsored by the Falling Creek Ironworks Foundation and the Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation.
