Get to know the Virginia Historical Society (VHS) on Saturday, October 3, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., during a free Family Open House Day.
Explore all of the newly renovated galleries and spaces, including our re-imagined Story of Virginia exhibition. Go behind-the-scenes with staff, watch demonstrations in our conservation lab and enjoy activities and games for all ages. Listen to live music by the Broad Street Ramblers and by Danny Willis. Free refreshments will be provided by Relay Foods. The first hundred guests will win a prize, and all visitors can enter to win a free family membership to the Virginia Historical Society ($85 value) that includes complimentary admission for four to see our upcoming special exhibition, Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times. Visitors may also enjoy free tours of Virginia House, a historic property located at 4301 Sulgrave Road, owned and operated by the Virginia Historical Society. Tours at Virginia House begin at noon. Free parking is available at both locations.
The Virginia Historical Society (VHS)—a privately funded nonprofit organization—collects, preserves, and interprets the Commonwealth’s history, linking past with present to inspire future generations. The VHS is located at 428 North Boulevard in Richmond’s Museum District.
