Harvest Festival 2012
Henrico County will hold its annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 20 at Meadow Farm Museum/Crump Park, 3400 Mountain Road in Glen Allen.
This free for all ages event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and features many hands-on activities and demonstrations depicting typical homemaking and farming tasks of the era. Some of these exciting activities include cider making, candle dipping, cornhusk doll making, corn shelling, blacksmithing, woodworking, and a natural dye demonstration.
Additional family activities include a petting zoo, pony rides, train rides, scarecrow making, and a children’s pumpkin patch where children ages 3-12 can pick their very own pumpkin. Visitors can also enjoy live music by Stonebrook Moon Shine and Barbara Martin.
Meadow Farm Museum is a living history museum where you can experience first-hand what middle class rural life was in the 1860s. Meadow Farm Museum staff and volunteers re-create everyday life on a middle-class farm in Henrico County between 1860 and 1864. By wearing period clothing and hairstyles, and emulating specific speech patterns, the staff and volunteers are able to portray an accurate reflection of those that once lived at Meadow Farm.
