How Henrico CASA and Playhouses Can Help End Child Abuse

Local builders are hard at work, designing and building one-of-a-kind playhouses that have the power to end child abuse. These playhouses are the highlight of Henrico CASA’s second annual Home for Good Event coming up this spring. They are intended to remind everyone that childhood should be fun and carefree, without abuse or neglect.

Playhouses are being built by Classic Construction, DPR Construction, Urbancore Construction (design by 510 Architects), and W.M. Jordan Company. A fifth playhouse is being built by Henrico Career and Technical Education students (resourced by Atlantic Constructors and W.M. Jordan).

“It’s incredible that my passion for an organization like Henrico CASA aligns with the capabilities of my co-workers and DPR’s commitment to our community,” said Chris Durand, Henrico CASA Board Vice Chair and Business Development leader at DPR Construction. “To be able to once again design and construct a unique, one-of-a-kind playhouse and to witness the enjoyment the team gets from being able to give back to those in need—especially children—is invaluable.”

Playhouses will be on display at Short Pump Town Center April 22 through May 8, 2022. While on display, the public will have an opportunity to win a playhouse by making $5 donations to Henrico CASA. Lucky winners will have a playhouse delivered to their home in May.

Last year’s inaugural Home for Good event raised almost $80,000 for Henrico CASA. Financial support for this event comes in the form of sponsorships from the business community and donations from the public. Sponsorship information is at www.henricocasa.org/HomeForGood/.
