LOCAL PRIMROSE PRESCHOOLERS COLLECTED OVER 800 PAIRS OF SOCKS
DONATE TO LOCAL SALVATION ARMY

Midlothian VA, November 14th – Demonstrating their commitment to giving to others, the Primrose School of Swift Creek & the Primrose School of Midlothian at Waterford recently helped families throughout Richmond and the surrounding areas stay warm as the chilly winter months approach. On Tuesday November 12th the Kindergarten classes of both Preschool locations donated 830 pairs of socks when they visited the local Salvation Army Family Store on Midlothian Turnpike.

“Children from Primrose Schools across the nation participated in the “Socks for Tots” program over the past month, but they did much more than simply bring in socks from home or local stores,” says Leighanne Chilmaid, the owner of both Midlothian area Preschools. “Throughout the month of October, the students worked on “cooperation,” one of our monthly character development themes. The children were able to hone their social skills by working together with their fellow classmates to reach a common goal. Every morning our teachers talked about the impact the students were making with these donations to less fortunate families.”

The donation of 830 pairs of socks is a way for the Primrose community to bring warmth and encouragement to the hearts of those in need in the community

Giving back to the community was a major focus of the annual sock drive, as well as a key component of the Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® system, which blends teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with special emphasis on character development. The Caring and Giving program is a nationwide initiative, with participation from more than 270 Primrose Schools across the country and helps students understand the value of generosity and cooperation.
