Made in RVA Take 2, an exhibit and sale featuring handcrafted home furnishings by area artisans, kicks off Friday, November 18, and runs through December 11 at LaDiff in Richmond.
The works on display will be set up inside the showroom of the downtown furniture store. This year’s event is organized by Kyle Lucia, Johannah Willsey, and David Bohnhoff. Lucia, a traditionally trained blacksmith, and Willsey, a mosaic artist, co-own Phoenix Handcraft and established RVA Makers, whose goal is to foster community among those interested in Richmond’s handmade culture.
Together with Bohnhoff, a former boat-builder turned furniture craftsman, they have gathered fourteen artists, including themselves, who will present their designs and work at the event. All items will be available for sale with pick up or delivery before Christmas. LaDiff also encourages the public to meet the artists to discuss custom work.
LaDiff’s involvement in the international design community gives the store a great appreciation for the artistry and talent that exists in Richmond. “Last year’s event encouraged my husband and business partner, Andy Thornton, to start designing and building again,” said Sarah Paxton, president of LaDiff. “We look forward to more inspiration from these creative local artists.”
The opening reception will be Friday, November 18, 5:30 to 8. For more details, visit LaDiff and Made In RVA: Take 2.
