Memorial for Brendan Mackey July 10

Primrose School of Swift Creek to hold memorial for Brendan Mackey

150 students to release balloons in remembrance

The Primrose School of Swift Creek will hold a memorial event this Wednesday (July 10th) for Brendan Mackey, the 7-year-old boy killed by a stray bullet last week in Midlothian. The event will also serve to support Brendan’s aunt, Kelly Mackey, who teaches at the school. His aunt and father will be present at the event.

At 3:15 p.m., the school’s 150 students will circle the school hand-in-hand, each holding a blue or green balloon—Brendan’s favorite colors. In sync, the children will release the balloons into the air.

“In the midst of such a tragedy, we want to celebrate the life of a precious child and honor his family, particularly his Aunt Kelly, sister to Brendan’s daddy,” says Leighanne Chilmaid, owner of Primrose School of Swift Creek.

“She has been a part of our preschool family at the Primrose School Swift Creek and our sister school, the Primrose School of Midlothian at Waterford for several years. They are a very close-knit family. All of her colleagues and the families at Primrose want to support her during this very painful time in her life.”

All friends and families of Primrose are encouraged to attend the event to encourage the Mackey family.

Primrose School of Swift Creek is located at 4750 Brad McNeer Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23112.
