What a year it is going to be for Premiere Dance Studio!
Premiere Dance Studio located 5 miles from Westchester Shopping Center, has added 12 new classes this season. After adding a second studio four years ago, their schedule is packed. Over 50 kids registered in Hip Hop classes alone between the ages 5 and 18. They are elated to announce Justin Grattan as their NEW Acrobatics Instructor. Justin also teaches at Virginia International Gymnastics School (VIGS) in Chesterfield. He is excited to bring his love for tumbling and teaching to Powhatan and Premiere.
Here are some studio highlights for this upcoming year:
- Each year Premiere puts on a Winter Charity Show and donates the money raised to a Powhatan Charity or a family in need. This year they will be putting on their 1st Holiday Charity Production “The Night Before Christmas” under the Artistic Directors Serrah Brod and Mindy Wright. This fun filled whimsical holiday production features dancing Sugar Plums, Toy Soldiers, Jack-in-the-Box, a beautiful Snow Queen and of course a visit by Santa and his Reindeers. It surely will become a studio and family tradition for years to come in Powhatan. Serrah Brod, Owner of Premiere Dance Studio, feels it is important to give back to the community and help the kids learn the true meaning of giving. The show will be at Powhatan High School on Sunday, December 9th at 2:00pm. Tickets will go on sale at the door for $7.00 each with all proceeds benefiting the Powhatan Christmas Mother. Come out and support the community, see a great performance, and get into the holiday spirit.
- MARY POPPINS is coming to Powhatan!
A cast member from Broadway Connection will be teaching a Musical Theatre Dance Master Class at Premiere on February 23, 2013. What a remarkable opportunity for the community and a great learning experience for all dance students to take a class from an actual cast member. - Premiere Dance Studio is proud to announce its first Performance Group! This group has been created for those who want to have extra performances, dance instruction, and help prepare your dancer for possibly auditioning for Premiere’s Award Winning Dance Team in the future.
- Premiere Dance Team rocked at National! In addition to competing at several regional competitions in different states, Premiere qualified and attended Nationals for a full week in Myrtle Beach this summer. This Award Winning Dance Team from Powhatan took Master Dance Classes from some of the best choreographers in the industry such has Kevin “Tokyo” Inouye, and Molly Gray from “So You Think You Can Dance” just to name a couple. All their dances either placed first or second along with some of the members receiving scholarships to attend future classes and competitions. What a great way to end the season! Now, onto the next…This year the studio is taking it to the next level and working hard on over 30 dance numbers to compete. The amount of hours and dedication the dancers show is incredible. We wish them the best of luck for the upcoming competition season.
Premiere Dance Studio, offers classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Pointe, Musical Theater, Acrobatics, Aerobics and Zumba. Many of their students go on to have careers in dance and continue their education in dance at several universities.
Serrah Brod is a true mentor to her students and pushes them to do their best. Students with little previous dance training soared to unthinkable heights, while more experienced students have their skills nurtured and pushed to a boundless limit. Premiere Dance Studio offers a program which covers a full range of techniques necessary for each of the dance arts, and skill level. The studio’s faculty consists of Mindy Wright, Cindy Mills, Rebecca Weger, Christina Joyner, Kaity Zahler, Justin Grattan, and Melinda Bastiaensen (Office Manager). They are professional teachers who are fully qualified to provide training that will prepare those students who have the talent and desire to continue their dance interests at a college level or possibly pursue a professional dance career. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful studio and studio owner in Powhatan.
