Looking for healthy, delicious, and affordable meal options for the family? Clean Eatz to the…
As part of Dominion Energy’s vision for building a clean and sustainable energy future, the company’s Project Plant It! program has been teaching students about the benefits of trees to the ecosystem since 2007.
Since the COVID-19 crisis has closed schools across the country this spring, educators are looking for creative ways to keep students engaged in learning while they are sequestered at home. To help out, Project Plant It! offers many free educational resources for online learning at projectplantit.com.
Under the Educator Resources tab, teachers can find an Educator’s Guide that includes twelve lesson plans in STEM subjects, a Tree Reading List and several activities that families can enjoy together. Also, there are three interactive games about trees on the website that students of all grade levels from K-12 can play while they learn.

Additionally, Dominion Energy invites educators to enter Project Plant It!’s STEM Lesson Plan Contest for a chance to win a Walmart gift card that can be used to purchase teaching supplies for the classroom. The deadline to submit an entry has been extended to Friday, April 17.
“Many of the lesson plans in our Educator’s Guide focus on science and math, and we look forward to adding a new STEM lesson to our curriculum,” said Melanie Rapp Beale, community affairs manager and Project Plant It! coordinator for Dominion Energy. “Now in its fourteenth year, Project Plant It! is one of the many ways that Dominion Energy supports education and environmental stewardship in our communities. We are especially pleased that our program provides an opportunity for students to sharpen their STEM skills at home through enriching online learning tools provided by Project Plant It!”
