Richmond Heart Walk October 11

Area companies, organizations, and families, enjoying a heart-healthy one or three mile walk in support of the American Heart Association’s lifesaving research and programs aimed at reducing heart
disease and stroke in our community.

• Fun activities at the Bon Secours movin’ mania Kid Zone area
• HDL, Inc. Tribute Wall honoring loved ones affected by heart diseases and stroke
• Anthem Hands-Only® CPR training demonstrations
• VCU Medical Center “spot the signs of stroke F.A.S.T.” education
• JenCare & Humana Senior Zone with beanbag baseball tournament
• Healthy cooking demonstrations
• Heart disease and stroke survivors wearing red caps and leading the walk
• Company & community walk teams sporting team t-shirts
• Leashed pets and strollers welcome
• Rain or shine event

Who: Scott Blackwell, Senior Vice President and Chief Culture Officer at Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. (HDL, Inc.), is the 2014 Richmond Heart Walk Chair.

The Richmond Heart Walk is an annual, non-competitive walking event designed to bring public awareness to physical activity and a heart-healthy lifestyle, while at the same time raising the critical dollars needed to fund the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association. Walkers from all over the region come out to support the fight against our nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 causes of death – heart disease and stroke.
