RICHMOND, Va. – The Board of Trustees of Richmond Montessori School, a Pre-K through 8th grade independent school in Henrico County, announces the appointment of Greg Wojcikewych as the next Head of School. Greg will begin on July 1, 2014. His appointment will follow the retirement of current Head of School Susanne Gregory, who has served as the Head of School since 2008.
Wojcikewych is the current Assistant Head of School and Head of Middle School at St. Michaels Episcopal School, an independent school for kindergarten through eighth grades in Richmond. He received his Bachelor of Arts from The University of Pittsburgh, followed by his Master of Arts from Old Dominion University. Currently a Master of Education candidate at the University of Richmond, Greg has either served as a teacher or an administrator since August 2001.
Richmond Montessori School Board Chair Rob Davenport says, “During our search for a new Head of School, the Board of Trustees and the Search Committee focused on finding a proven leader who has a passion for our mission; who connects with people in a personal and engaging way; who shares our values; who can build and maintain a strong sense of community; and who always strives for improvement and progress. We were thrilled to find all of these positive qualities, and more, in Greg.”
Wojcikewych will begin his American Montessori Society (AMS) Administrator Training during the summer of 2014. This intensive Montessori leadership training focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to guide and maintain a vibrant and harmonious school community in accordance with the best practices of Montessori philosophy.
In addition, Wojcikewych’s daughter, Elsa (age 3) will enroll in Richmond Montessori School in the fall of 2014.
This announcement concludes a thorough and extensive search process that began in May 2013. Richmond Montessori School credits the guidance of their search firm, Carney, Sandoe, and Associates, and a Search Committee who evaluated a talented and experienced pool of candidates.
