With over 150 years of combined experience, Richmond Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Bill Dahlke to our team of expert pediatric dentists.
Prior to joining Richmond Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics:
“Dr. D” completed dental school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He practiced General Dentistry and taught at the UNLV School of Dental Medicine for several years before furthering his training in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. D then went on to own and operate a private pediatric practice in Las Vegas, where his desire to be in education brought him back into academic dentistry and to the East Coast!
Most recently, he served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at VCU School of Dentistry and the Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, while also serving as the Director of the Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry at VCU.
We asked Dr. D his favorite part about being a pediatric dentist and here’s what he had to say:
“Being a pediatric dentist is really the best of both worlds in dentistry. I get to be a specialist, an expert in a particular field of dentistry, but it is also primary care. I get to see my patients regularly; I get to watch them grow and mature and become wonderful members of their communities. It is the most fun specialty too. Who wouldn’t want to go to work each day and get to chat with kids about fun stuff? I get to learn about all the new things that kids are into doing, what shows they like to watch, what games they play, what sports they enjoy and what books they are reading. There is so much laughter in a pediatric practice and that keeps the days fun and helps to make, what could otherwise be a scary experience for a child, a fun and enjoyable one.”
In all of his years of academic dentistry, he has educated more than a thousand dentists and pediatric dentists. Dr. Bill Dahlke is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, has been published in the scientific literature and has contributed to several published textbooks. He has expertise in all areas of pediatric dentistry and provides care for even the most complex child.
When he’s not looking at teeth, you can find him spending time with his wife Kristen and their two teenage boys, or restoring his 1969 Mustang Mach 1.
