There are nine Rainbow Stations locations in Virginia, North Carolina and Texas with four located in the Richmond area.

WHAT:
First Annual Leadership Day
Leadership Day is an opportunity to show the transformation that is happening in the students and staff at Rainbow Station at Wyndham through The Leader in Me. The Leader in Me is based off of the Stephen Covey’s book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Sean Covey’s children’s book The 7 Habits of Happy Children. Rainbow Station is the first to attempt these ideas at this level which will make us the first preschool system in the world to become a leadership school.

WHY:
At Rainbow Station, we have found by promoting ideas like “Being Proactive” and “Thinking Win-Win” goes so much further than simply just academic success. Our students and teachers are learning to live in a culture where they can solve their own problems and where their voice matters but more importantly they are an important and integral part of their classroom and school community. Our little leaders are learning life skills that can then be applied to their life forever making them that much more ready to take on the world.

We have seen great success even in the way that our infants and toddlers communicate. With the introduction of our Baby Signs and Baby Yoga programs over two years ago under this leadership initiative, the communication between child and teacher has increased dramatically. We have noticed that “pilot” group of children, who are now two years old, aren’t going through the typical biting and hitting stages of their peers and are using the effective habits to solve their problems.

Rainbow Station at Wyndham is inviting the community into our school to meet our leaders, hear them speak and see leadership come alive in our classrooms.
