Rite Aid Foundation Awards $12,300 to CHIP of VA

The Rite Aid Foundation announced today a $12,300 grant to the Comprehensive Health Investment Project (CHIP) of Virginia, a nonprofit organization responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a statewide network of community-based child health and family support programs. The funding will provide asthma supplies to families with severely asthmatic children.

“At Rite Aid, we know it takes a community to care for a child – especially when that care involves treating expensive and long-term health conditions such as asthma,” said Gayle Rife, Manager of The Rite Aid Foundation. “We are proud to support CHIP of Virginia as they work to improve young children’s health and promote wellness and self-sufficiency in low-income families across Virginia.”

Since the CHIP model was expanded statewide in 1992, Virginians have had a trusted resource to help young children get the health care they need. Thanks to seven sites across the commonwealth, countless need-based Virginian families can receive critical health care based on a home visiting model and using a case management approach.

“CHIP is based on the principle that families, with the key support of trained health care professionals, can be empowered to best provide for the health and wellness of their children,” said Cathryn Lowe, Development Counsel for CHIP.. “Thanks to the Rite Aid Foundation and donations like theirs, CHIP is better equipped to ensure the youngest and most vulnerable among us thrive in their home environment.”

Rite Aid operates nearly 200 stores across Virginia.
