Richmond, Virginia- November 21, 2011: Advanced Orthopaedics has opened The Sports Performance & Wellness Institute. This one of a kind facility is the latest addition to Advanced Orthopaedics’ state of the art campus on Shrader Road. It is the final stage of a comprehensive approach to deal with athletes and weekend warriors that includes prevention as well as intervention.

Ex Olympian and world renowned strength coach, Bob Blanton is heading up the program at The Sports Performance & Wellness Institute. Coach Blanton has trained hundreds of athletes who include; Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers, Bryson Spinner of the Washington Redskins & Kyle Jolly of the Pittsburgh Stealers to name a few. Coach Blanton’s experience is not limited to pro athletes; he trains middle school, high school, college athletes and even the weekend warrior to achieve their maximum performance and to avoid injury during the season. Special programs for teams and clubs to learn exercises aimed at preventing in season injury are available as well. Also offered in this unique facility to all community members is a science-based, 8 week therapeutic lifestyle change program that helps reduce body mass, encourage proper nutrition, lower stress levels and fight chronic disease.

In business since the mid-1970’s, Advanced Orthopaedics is no stranger to opening one-of-a kind facilities; In 2003 they opened the first fully accredited practice & surgical suite in the Richmond market and 3 years ago they were the first orthopaedic practice in Virginia to open a walk-in, urgent care center dedicated to bone and joint injuries, Ortho On Call. Ortho-On Call has now grown to two locations, one on south side and one in the west end, with Mon-Sun hours at both locations.
