Training Program Brings New Fitness Options to RVA
RICHMOND, Va – Fleet Feet Sports Richmond has announced a beginners 5K training program called No Boundaries, set to begin June 25, 2014 at 6 p.m.
No Boundaries, a nationally-sponsored training program held in conjunction between Fleet Feet Sports and New Balance, is designed for those who are currently inactive or new to running and walking with the goal of completing a 5K race.
“I’m very excited to bring the No Boundaries 5K training program to Richmond,” said Ashley Wells, co-owner of Fleet Feet Sports Richmond. “I’ve seen the lives No Boundaries has changed in other cities. This is a program for those who may be interested in becoming active but are not sure where to start. Whether you are a walker or runner, this is a safe place to start an active lifestyle journey.”
The program will take participants through ten weeks of training. Group workouts will be held every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. and Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Fleet Feet Sports Richmond located at 5600 Patterson Ave. Additionally, members will receive a training schedule, free educational clinics, a piece of technical running gear and guidance and support from coaches throughout the program’s duration. It costs $100, which does not include the race entry fee.
Ultimately, the program will prepare participants for the Speak Up 5K on Sept. 6, 2014 in Richmond. This race will be held in honor of Henrico teen Cameron Gallagher, who passed away at the finish line of a half marathon in early 2014 and will raise awareness for childhood depression.
“The Speak Up 5K is going to be a phenomenal event, and I think it’s so important that we’ve chosen to be a part of it,” said Jeff Wells, co-owner of Fleet Feet Sports Richmond. “What a great cause for our participants to train towards.”
Those interested may attend an information session at the Fleet Feet Sports Richmond store on Saturday, June 21 at 9 a.m. or e-mail Ashley Wells at ashley@fleetfeetrichmond.com.
