WHY: The New Community School’s primary fundraiser, the 5th Annual READ: Art Show & Sale, features
nearly 100 regional and local artists and brings the community together to raise money for and awareness of
Richmond’s only college preparatory school for students with language learning difficulties in grades 6-12.
Founded in 1974, The New Community School provides a program of college preparation for dyslexic (specific language learning disabled) students, grades 6-12. Through remediation of reading and writing skills, challenging academic courses, and activities that foster character development, students achieve academic independence and increased self-esteem. The school is an independent, non-sectarian and non-profit day school accessible to students of all races, creeds, ethnic origins and socio-economic backgrounds. Learn more at www.tncs.org.
