Virginia Zoo Extends Free Senior Wednesdays

NORFOLK, Va. – The Virginia Zoo will extend its offer of free admission on Wednesdays for seniors age 62 and over through October.
“Fall is the perfect time to visit the Zoo,” said Greg Bockheim, the Zoo’s executive director. “Crowds are smaller, the weather is cooler, many of the animals are more active, and the Zoo Train is still running, ready to take you on your journey.”
Since August, nearly 1,200 seniors have visited the Zoo for free on Wednesdays.
To receive free admission, seniors need only to bring a valid ID as proof of age. Free admission applies only to individuals age 62 and over. Other visitors will be charged regular Zoo admission; $11 for adults, $10 for seniors and $9 for children 2 to 11.
Free senior admission will be valid on Wednesdays only through Oct. 31, 2012.
