Camp Courage is a seven-week summer day camp for rising juniors, seniors and recent high school graduates with Asperger’s Syndrome or high-functioning autism. The camp helps students develop social skills and expand their job skills.
“Those with Asperger’s Syndrome struggle with social skills such as learning body language, knowing when to start and stop a conversation and understanding the nuances and interpretations of speech,” said Sasha Yazdegerdi, Associate Clinical Director of Educational Services at Charterhouse School. “Things like Camp Courage give these teens a chance to practice these social skills and to make friends with others who have similar interests.”
